It Reminded Me A Little of Edward Scissorhands

I know that a few people pointed out parallels to the Green Mile which I actually hadn't noticed, but as a fan of both Powder and Edward Scissorhands this seemed a lot like they were similar. Following the stories major parts in order they did get to the key parts in similar chronological order (found/ integrated into life with their new guardians/ do something that only they can do/ have something weird happen involving their difference/ meet a love interest/ meet antagonist... really I could go on but you get the point). I'm just wondering if I'm one of the only ones who noticed this. I liked both movies but I liked that we kind of got to learn pretty much everything about Powder's mind and how he thinks and experiences things and while I loved Edward's childlike innocence it didn't seem as introspective. I definitely preferred Edward Scissorhands' ending though. I understand Powder's ending very much and I liked that he became energy, but really we get no other ending for any other character? That made me really wonder what we can make of what happened after Powder vanished and how it changed the people he cared about. At least with Edward Scissorhands when it ended there was a sort of conclusion.

Same here, whenever i look at his mouth and lips i see the dark purple pale colour, his appearance is exactly like Edward Scissorhands except for the spikey black hair and of course the scissor hands

who would win in a fight between them? the prize being a normal body?

Lame question!!

Powder (Jeremy) didn't think of it as an ending, but as a transition. It was fine: given that idea, I personally didn't need things wrapped up any more neatly or explicitly than that. More would have been obvious overkill.

I got that too.:)

I saw a bit of Edward Scissorhands, a bit of The Green Mile and a bit of Phenomenon.

People say he reminded them of Michael Jackson with the way he dressed, but he reminded me of Ducky (hat, jacket, round glasses)

And then there were certain "Jesus" similarities. (Or Elija, the prophet who was taken up to heaven but never died)

I definitely see edward scissorhands as both about someone who is innocent at heart and is misunderstood due to their abilities and therefor they are shunned and unable to live in the open.

I also see Phenomenon with his electromagnetic abilities.

All 3 were great movies
