Question About Nude Scenes

I caught a glimpse of Sean Patrick Flanery totally naked during the making of this flick & his pubes are full-blown in the pics...why didn't he shave his entire body for the role even if that area wasn't featured in the final cut???

reply

most likely because he KNEW they would cut it.

Habataitara modorenai to itte
Mezashi-ta no wa aoi aoi ano sora

reply

Yeah to earn that all-important PG-13 rating! I guess Flanery didn't figure the still shots would be on the internet years later for all to see...nevertheless he looks sexy either way!

reply

Looked it up and WTF?! Those pics never should have been revealed to the public. That is AWFUL. How did that happen?!

reply

were they white pubes?

reply

You make a great point. It was a plot hole that he even had pubes to begin with, since the rest of his body is hairless. And if he did have pubes they would have been white.

That was really a fuck up on the part of the director that he didn't make Sean Patrick Flanery shave his balls. 🤣

reply

You do know that the director was convicted of sexual misconduct with a 12 year old actor from one of his movies. Disney claims they didn't know about it before Powder, but in light of that, and the homoerotic subtext in all of Salva's movies, that's a really disturbing comment.

reply

I did not know that. But I don't see how it's relevant to the movie. The actor and the character Powder were adults.

You need to separate the art from the artist.

And if homoeroticism disturbs you, that's on you.

How is what you said relevant to the film and Powder's pubes? 🤣

reply

Homoeroticism doesn't bother me in the least. It's that the director has already abused at least one of his actors, makes films for the gay male gaze, then you are saying that he should have made an actor alter the appearance of his genital region for a shot that was never going to be in the final film. That's what's disturbing.

It's akin to Roman Polanski making his actresses get a full brazilian for a sex scene that doesn't show anything below the belly button. It's unnecessary.

reply

Oh hell no. The only thing which is relevant in the making of that movie is to direct the best piece of cinematic art possible. Sorry, I'm not concerned about the objectification of an adult male actor. Flanery got rich and famous off that film.

And the scene was intended as part of the film as art. They knew it would be included in later versions even if the original version was PG.

The "gay male gaze"? Lol. We queers were not aroused by a naked albino. 🤣

reply

They showed that scene in the movie from the waist up and full body from behind. People on movie sets take pictures and release them online and to tabloids quite often.
