I heard in this movie that the main characters try to summon a real ghost.What happens in their attempts?

They don't really try to 'summon' him, just talk to him on a Ouija Board. Then a series of coincidences convince them they've accidentally brought him back and they need to find out more about him to lay him to rest.

I'm a little late, but I don't recall them ever using s ouija board. They have a seance into the graveyard, but there's no ouija.

Like Danielle said, there was not quiji board. They have a seance in the cemetery, trying to talk to him, and then later they go to that lady who uses tarot cards and then they sort of have another seance in the end. That's about it.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

They see a headstone of a kid who was murdered in the 1940s and try to contact him, they get interrupted by thunder and lightening.
If you look carefully there IS shadow of a boy waving silhouetted on a large tree trunk in the cemetery after the seance and I'm pretty sure there's another shadowy figure in Sam's room right after she gets back home - I used to have this movie on vhs as a kid and it took a few viewings for me to see these shadows

Sam does see 2 shadowy images of DearJohnny, once in the graveyard when they run out screaming and then another in her room
