I'm Pissed, I Got The DVD Recently And....

I have wanted this movie on dvd since it came out years ago but couldn't ever find it in any stores around my house so i finally gave in and ordered it on line. I watched it the other day and there is a scene cut out in the end that is in the television version that makes the ending of the dvd version suck. At the end of the t.v. version after depp and dutton save depp's little girl there is a scene that has depp and dutton being thanked by the governor and then depp, his little girl and charles dutton all talk for a while at the end and depp thanks dutton for his help and says he could never repay him for what he did. On the dvd version that scene is cut out and the ending sucks without that scene. Anyone else notice this and get mad?

More than a few movies, when aired on TV, have scenes that were originally edited out of the theaterical version. This is done when a movie is too short for TV, to expand its length by a little bit. I remember seeing 48 Hrs. years ago on TV, (all hacked up, of course), and it had a couple of scenes that aren't in the regular version you'd buy on DVD or video.

But most of the time, you can see why the scenes were edited out to begin with. The Nick of Time scene at the end (which I saw as well) was nice, but it wasn't necessary, and it slowed things down. Yeah, he saved the day, we get it.

I know I replied to this question in another post, or at least I'm pretty sure I did. All I had ever seen was the theatrical ending .. the one that's on the DVD and the one I taped, years ago, from PayPerView. But, I just watched it on USA abnd saw that alternate ending. I liked it much better than the theatrical ending. They would have done well to leave it in, in the first place, but who knows what goes on in the minds of editors. Anyway, I'm glad I got to see this ending.

Funny how someone who has a movie on either or both VHS and DVD will watch it when it's on TV, commercials and all. It seems more special when it's on TV, I guess. And, sometimes it's a good thing to watch it, or one misses alternate endings.

(off to look for that other post I replied to...)

I just finshed it on UsA.. I loved it.. I noticed deleted scenes all through the movie, and I now understand it way better when I frist watched it.. They should of just left the deleted scenes in there.. Prob would of been more of a hit, if they would of done that...

I agree with you! I own Nick of Time (the cut version) I called Paramount Pictures inquiring to buy the "uncut version" which was aired on USA and they acted if I was nuts. They never heard of this longer version. Am I going crazy too. I wish the uncut version was sold on DVD. It's so much better and completes the storyline. I love just love Johnny Depp!!!!

I know what you guys mean I seen it for the first time on u.s.a then later rented the dvd and saw how the endings where diffrent. I agree that they should have left the alternat ending in the dvd too. or atleast had on the bonus features... but anyhoo I will still get it cause its a good movie...not his best but still a decent movie to me its better than ed wood and fear and loathing...

VanDammeRules, i got the DVD and it makes me so mad they cut that scene out! I saw it on TV first and when I watched the DVD I was like 'what the heck happened to the end?' but it's still a good movie!
