Imagine???
"Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly!"
Imagine
although to tell you the truth, I don't particularly like the song, it fit
Anyone who doesn't like that song is either a rap addict or Satan.
And yes, it was too easy to use that song to evoke emotion.
I would have enjoyed hearing CCR's "Fortunate Son" in that montage. They could have tied that into the student who passed away and made a more poignant political comment, but I think they chose the easier option with "Imagine".
shareImagine, which was a hit song for him in 1971, after he split up with the Beatles. It is a great song, although the first time I heard it was 1986 and thought it was new. Didn't know it was Lennon at the time.
shareNot many of Lennon's songs other than "Imagine" get screen time haha. Talk about overusing a cliche song to evoke emotion. Hotchie-Motchie!
"I listened and I heard music in a word."--Pete Townshend
It made me sad that somebody out there was so unfamiliar with John Lennon's "Imagine" that they had to ask for its title.
Hey, not everyone knows every song, okay? Do you??????????????
shareThere's a bit of a difference between knowing every song ever and not knowing one of the most famous songs of the 20th century.
shareI didn't know that song was famous.
shareInstant Karma I think would have fit the movie better.

Confound your lousy toll.. TROLL!
Well, fun fact: The producer of this movie is one of my professors in college, and he once told me about how he tried to use A Day in the Life for the soundtrack, but they couldn't get the rights, so they went with Imagine.
shareEvil Michael Jackson!
share"Imagine" was an anachronism in the movie: it was used to illustrate events from about 1966-70 and the song was not released until 1971.

4) You ever seen Superman $#$# his pants? Case closed.
Actually it's not even that. According to him there's a board of people who are in charge of the rights to Beatles songs, and even if you have the money, they reserve the right to veto it's use. You need to prove why you should use that song, lest the Beatles name be slandered. He also mentioned that in the past few years we have been having more Beatles songs because said board is become more lax on who can and can't. In the next few years (and *especially* after Paul and Ringo are dead, you can expect the Beatles songs to flood back into pop culture until they're being used to sell breakfast cereal, get over exposed, and the board tightens their reigns again.
shareWell, you are assuming that everyone keep track of the music industry. What's good to you, might not interest someone else. It's not like he said he doesn't know what WW2 or something like that is. I doubt this precious "song" of yours would make it to the ten biggest events in the 20th century...
