Just watched this on tv...how is this only rated 5.9?

Really good film. I gave it a 9, since it is a great crime/action film. It should have a minimum of a 7.0

I am not surprised. This type of movie isn't for everyone.

Nic Cage is completely over the top as the bad guy and most the women in the movie were strippers.

I rated this a 7 though. I think David Caruso is perfect as the ex-con turned informant. True, the red-headed Dirty Harry is pretty much the only role he can play, but I think he plays it wonderfully.

All the ensemble actors are excellent. Cage is over the top but it is entertaining.

And a stick it to everyone ending. Not bad.

A surprisingly low score indeed. I'd say it deserves around a 7. Caruso, Jackson and Tucci are all solid to good while Rapaport and Heald play the same characters they always play. But of course, it's Nic Cage's oddly off–kilter performance of an odd off–kilter character that steals the show. He walks the line between strange and comical but he manages to avoid the Cage-y mannerisms of his later work.
