so what was that whole thing towards the end, why did sullivan lie so he would get the chair and bobby would live, i dont get that whole thing

You know, you should've really put spoiler on this. I'm half way throug watching it, and thought this would be about Sullivans paintings or something, but now I pretty much know the end.
