Who hit him with the bat?
Who hit Connery with the bat and why? He's hit in the back, clearly not knocked out, and then it just cuts to him standing around the car with the cop. It's a little confusing (and pointless).

i initially thought the cops were bad, so it must have been one of them.
but that shd not be the case now.
Presumably the same guy who painted the car and broke the windows. Doesn't carry the plot at all excpet to back up what the lawyer said about the prejudice in the town.
