Remake?

They should remake this movie. The plot points about tech being a virus that is killing society, driving us apart, viruses strangling the world, pharmacy and tech companies glutting themselves on blood for profit, and the increased reliance that we have on tech is all still relevant - far more so. A savvy writer could take this and really go wonderful places with it (as long as they didn't use it for a soapbox and just let the story embody the themes without spelling them out). Plus, the heroes are compelling. Johnny and Jane rapidly deteriorating - losing mind and body. The struggle is very real.

Who should they cast? Keanu Reeves. Let him start the movie in full John Wick mode and struggle more and more with being an underworld demigod as his brain melts. Dina Meyer should come back, too. Jane is already struggling to keep up with other models, and I think that casting a middle-aged woman (cast aside so easily by Hollywood) would give the role a tonne of poignancy without writing one word of dialogue. Of course she's pumping herself full of speed implants: she's worried about losing her place in the world to a newer model.

Seriously, I think this could really work.
