Carpenter does Lovecraft vis Cronenberg via Clive Barker, all of it awful, repulsive, Sam Neill is awful. Oooh, Lovecraft...how avant-garde. Oh please.

Except that it's not based on anything Lovecraft wrote. It seems more Barker-esque to me, but I agree, it stunk.

What are you talking about? The idea of beings older than the human race living on earth and one day coming back has Everything to do with Lovecraft and the Cthulhu mythology.

I would even go as far as to say that Sutter Canes is Lovecraft as the passages read from his books are all based on Lovecraft stories.

Oh yeah. This is definitely one big homage to Lovecraft and an excellent film as well.

Excellent comparison. Now I know why I loved this movie from the first time I watched it.

It's fantastic in all its takes.
