Danny - Accidental Comedic Genius

Man, Danny has the best lines in this film. Never has a fictional character accidentally made me laugh so much in a martial arts film (except perhaps nearly every character in the Thundering Mantis). Here are some of my favourite Danny moments, feel free to add any others you can think of.

"Great moves Keung, you're number one!"

"These are my sister's diamonds. Owwww!" (See unintended humour thread for an extended description)

[Describing his sister to Keung] "She's pretty! {crosses his eyes and raises his eyebrows}"

"No! My cushion!"

reply

yo and when he was playing the sega handheld game....with not game in it!!!!! hahahahah i was laughing for hours

reply

shes a flight attendent! owwww!

reply

"This is my sister! Isn't she pretty?! Well....not right now."

HAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAH.

Hes up there in the all-time asian comedy level with that asian kid from "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom".

reply

That asian kid from Indy Jones was in my taekwondo class when i was in high school. I sparred him maybe 2 times but he was still intermediate level. I couldn't tell that he was THE asian kid cuz he did look older (about 5 years after the movie was filmed). I think he's a working stunt man now.

There's this part (supposed to be emotional, but turns out funny) when Danny describes how other sisters take their little brothers to the beach (or park) or something like that...

And I kept thinking, "No they don't!"

reply

LMAO! I couldn't agree MORE!! I laughed at Danny's character so much I had tears streaming down my face. Nice way of saying it, too. 'Accidental comedic genius'

When there is no more room in Hell, the dead shall walk the Earth.

reply

THUG-"you call these diamonds?"
Danny-"those are my sisters diamonds"
(THUG throws crap diamonds softly at Danny)
Danny-"Owwww"

reply

a lot of it has to do with the dubbing (i think his voice was dubbed)

and that's why canada has snowballs, and we have the H-bomb

reply

Hehe. I thought it was really funny that Danny, a disabled child who has just been beaten up and thrown into the corner of a room, when asked 'Are you Ok' answered 'Yeah, I'm fine!' and then proceeded to thrown a football helmet and wrench to Jacki Chan (and why would his siter have those things in the corner of her bedroom anyway??) lmao. Good film

reply

I thought I was the only one who though Danny was a comedy genius.

Kian you're number one, is a phenomenal piece of comedy

reply

"I wish my legs were like other kids'" - should be emotional, but the dubbed delivery had me crying with laughter!

reply

i love how he's always bitchin about his cushion

I am the game, you don't want to play me.

reply

like the other guy said, it's the overdubbing the makes it sound like that. that doesn't make it any less funny though.

"tomorrow. tomorrow. always tomorrow."

reply

"no stop help my cushion he took my cushion .... eeehhhh oooowwwww"

"hey was up... you got a probrem "

" beating people up and rwobbin them "

reply

(Danny sees new cushion)

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

(As if he found a million dollars)

reply

I thought i was the only one who saw this comedic gem,
Am not alone...

reply

haha same. I was watching this with a friend and he was giving me crap about laughing at a disabled kid! NO MY CUSHION!!!

reply

Danny was freakin' amazing in this movie. The asian kid AND the kid who dubbed him both should've won Oscars, no kidding. I loved every minute of this movie, Danny and all, rofl. Has me cracking up just thinking about it. xD

reply

"she's 21....and she's pretty "

Oops! Zat waz not medicine!
