Was he showing remorse when he said "It hurts...it hurts" and pounded his fist on the locker? I couldn't figure out if it was because of what he had just done at the student rally, or if he knew he just threw his whole life away and it was all over for him? Or if he was regretting joining up with Neo Nazis in the first place? He was played by a great actor tho.
shareI think what hurt was that he just wanted to fit in, find his place and make his life and he ended up spiraling out of control to the point that yes, he just threw everything away.

I think he does show remorse ... he even says he is sorry in that scene, and it looks like he is saying it to Malik. I think it was a little bit of everything that you mentioned in your post.
