When this movie came out I was working in a shipping dept chock full of unfortunate souls wanting a better life by saving up for college. NONE of us were white.
There I was sitting in the employee diner listening to some poor negro talking of saving up for community college and looking forward to a career in physical therapy.
Lo and behold his fellow negro slaps him upside the head and said, “Did you see ‘Higher Learning’, fool? That sh*t’s for WHITE folk! They’s gonna put you down and drive you out, fool! Just work hard and keep lookin’ for work!”
I fail to see the humor in a movie that encourages minorities to avoid college for fear of the BULLSH*T picture of campus life this stupid film portrays.

When Fishburne tackles Malik, Malik's faces and overacting. This movie wanted to be serious and profound, but none of these people were good enough actors, at least not at that point in their lives.
It's 1995 and none of the professors is using a computer even then? The professor doesn't have a computer on his desk? Not even a typewriter. Does he handwrite papers? interesting.
