GREATEST EVER,SADDEST EVER Animal film

This film(and im 37yrs old) makes me cry like a child EVERYTIME i watch it!!
If you really watch it, youll see the hidden meanings as to how precious life is, how never to take people for granted, and that there are no 2nd chances in life!!
Its just full of moral tales, told in a fantastic way, and it really makes you realise just how important friends and family are!!!
The scenes when he has to leave his dog-mum in the kennels, the scene when Bella, the tramp dies, thye part when his best friend, Rumbo dies..my god..this film is A KILLER to watch!!!Then the ultimate part, after he finds his family and comes to realise that its time to move on...the graveyard scene when Fluke wipes away the snow, revealingt his old name, and the realization in her eyes as to who Fluke really is....A CLASSIC!!!! This was the first movie I ever cried at. It has been about 10 years since I saw it and ever since then have not forgotten it. That is why I was so excited when I saw that it would be airing on television this week. I just finished watching it and of course it made me cry on and off the entire time. It is such a great movie and I do wish it had more recognition. Like mentioned in the post above, the final graveyard scene is wonderfully done. Very touching.

I have one question though. I seem to remember a scene where a child gets a puppy for a Christmas gift and upon opening the box with the puppy he just sets it aside and doesn't care about it. It wasn't in the TV version. I'm almost certain it was from this movie. What was this scene and when was it?

reply

yeah i saw it on animal planet today too. i saw it a few years ago and remembered how good it was and the whole time i was watching it i was crying. its crazy how that movie does it to people. but like that one guy said it has so many hidden meanings and the animal actors were awesome way better than some human actors.

reply

I watched it on Animal Planet last night; saw it as my dad was channel-surfing and yelled, "GO BACK!" Of course I cried as always. >_>;

But I too noticed that there were parts of the movie shown on TV that I've never seen before! I own a slightly different version on DVD.

For instance, near the part where he first meets Rumbo, Rumbo lifted his leg on a pole or something and said a line about it...which I'd never heard before. The scene in the cosmetic lab was elongated...the monkey was jumping around and the guy who shot Rumbo was shown with a banana for longer than in the movie I own. There were probably others but those two moments stood out as different. I guess they were just editted out for the DVD version and they still show on TV.

Actually, the movie you are thinking about is Homeward Bound II. One of the stray dogs that Shadow, Sassy, and Chance come across tells this story of why he can't trust humans. He also looks a lot like Rumbo (this confused me when I was little).

I saw this movie about an hour ago on Animal Planet after not seeing it for 10 years as well. At the graveyard scene I cried just as much as I did the last time. That part always gets me.

I saw it last night for the first time in years (I'm 15) and I could only get through like 15 mins. of it because I was crying so hard, heheh.
It's a good movie though. :D

I saw it when I was 7 and I haven't watched it since. I cried for one hour and I still don't remember what made me cry! I'm glad to know I am not the only one who cried.

"oi!get some emotions!"

Did you actually read my post correctly? I do have emotions, the conclusion of "The Green Mile" made me cry. The point I was trying to make, which you seemed to miss completely, is that "Fluke" is not the kind of film people should feel emotionally at. Because it's just cookie-cutter, by-the-numbers, fake, robotic, emotionally void, Hollywood tripe. Watch "The Green Mile" if you haven't seen it and you'll see the difference (hopefully).

Oh, I read it correctly. I just entirely disagree with your opinion, which is perfectly fine. There is no 'this is good' and 'this is bad' when it comes to movies; there are so many out there because there are so many different kinds of people who will like and react differently to various things.

'Fluke' is one of the most beautiful, well-made, original, inspiring, amazing movies I've ever seen and it is definitely one of the most emotional movies I think could ever be made. I cry at it every time I watch it, yes, and I can't help that.
Why bring up 'The Green Mile' so much? Does that comparison need to be made? There are LOTS of movies that you can have an emotional reaction to. That particular film is good, but it's honestly not one of my favorites. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong here; it means we like different movies.

Do I respect your opinion? Yes. Do I like that you go bashing an excellent, beautiful film as though stating an opinion as if it were a fact can change someone's mind about how much they love a movie? No!

By calling it "excellent" and "beautiful", instead of saying you believe it to be "excellent and "beautiful, aren't you guilty of stating an opinion as fact.

Yes...yes, you are right. I should've realized that.
What I meant was a movie that many of us consider to be 'excellent, beautiful, etc etc.'

I don't mean to piss people off, I just have such a strong feeling on how terrible I find this film to be.

If you think "Titanic" is a good film, then I can certainly see why you liked "Fluke". With things like this - [] on your posts, you're obviously soft as s--t.

I agree, its very sad and emotional. I also agree with en.wikipedia.org that it could be the most underrated film of all time.

The "vomit inducing trash" section seems to have disappeared, which is a dam shame. Either there was a technical error, or at least 20% of the comments were too intelligent. Fair well discussion!

Thats the problem with forums, people can what they as long as it don't upset the uptight wasters.

As much as I didn't agree with what was on there people still should be able to say what they feel, its like living in Russia.

p.s.
The 'Fluke' section was down last night when i tried to use it.

reply

A) Most underrated film of all time? I agree with that.
B) I've seen 'vomit-inducing trash' and this ain't it.
C) Errrrm, 'Titanic' was all right. Just 'all right.' I could sit through it but can't remember the last time I voluntarily did so.

I read that someone thinks the puppy at christmas being put to one side...that scene is actually from Homeward Bound 2. That was how one of the stray dogs got stay.

I'm 34 years old and seeing this film just made me so tearful, even having the film inside my mind makes me upset.
