The price of the house

He sold that house for only a few thousand dollars? Seriously? That house could go for about $500,000, at least 350 by 1995 standards. I always thought that was crazy.

reply

Yeah. The guy he sold it to didn't even try to bargain either.

No, he gave him $15,000 EXTRA so that they would move out in 10 days.

reply

No, no, no. The buyer paid the asking price for the house, which was never revealed. The $15,000 was for being able to move out of the house in 10 days. They also paid extra for the dishes.

When George buys his house back, he tells the buyer that he still had his check in his pocket and never cashed it. But the buyer refuses to sell back thet house unless he receives a profit. So, in addition to the the original price of the house, George pays him $100,000 as profit to buy his house back.

That whole story line was a waste of time IMO.

reply

Oh, well that makes more sense.

I really couldnt believe that he would sell the house in the first place. Yes, he was going through a mid-life crisis what with his own daughter having a baby, making him feel older. And in the film he does all sorts of things to try to look and feel younger (new wardrobe, hairstyle, etc). But to sell the house he loved? In the first movie he says how its a great house and he never wants to move. Seeing the house ourselves, we can understand why. So for all of the sudden decide to sell the house and move to a condo on the beach? Thats way too much.

Though on the other hand, going through the motions to buy his house back is indeed believable.

reply

I thought that was STUPID too. Why sell the house in the first place.
