One itty bitty thing that bothers me

How George immediately assumed that since the doctor's name was Megan, then she's obviously too young to have had much experience with childbirth. I was pleased to have her tell him that she'd delivered like 200 babies in her lifetime.

Why does this bug me? My name is Megan and I'm going to school to be a vet. I'd be pissed if pet owners looked at my name and thought I was too young to be one and insisted that some old geiser take care of their pets.

I do however like the end when George names his daughter Megan. Take that!

Again, minor thing.

I think that assumption came from the fact that Megan wasn't really a common name at the time for someone older than their 20s. By now, there are more "Megan"s out there who are adults because it was already a popular name more than 20 years ago. His freak out wasn't because of the name Megan specifically, it was because most Megan's at the time WERE fairly young.

It wasn't Megan, it was Meagan.

Nope, it's Megan...look at the character list. That's the normal way of spelling the name.

They pronounce it Meagan in the film.

it is still pronounced deb-ruh.

except for this one girl I had in my 3rd grade class.. deb-or-uh. the girl liked deb-ruh, like how EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD said it.

I'm not sure that it was even so much about the name, but that he was looking for excuses to object, which was his M.O. throughout both movies.

As was mentioned (and seen) in the first movie, George is an overreactor. It runs in the family.

Names expereience trendy periods. He may associate the popularity of the name with people of a certain generation. I don't think of it as a name associated with George's generation.

My name is Megan but the whole age-ism thing didn't bother me! I had to start going to Physical Therapy a few weeks ago and I was REALLY hoping my PT wasn't someone my age (27) or younger. I wanted someone who was older... been around the block a few times. And luckily, I got an AWESOME PT and she was about 10 or so years older than me.

I know that way of thinking is totally lame, because I teach piano lessons and I would be PISSED if someone didn't bring their child to me because I was "only" 27. But that's how I honestly felt. I wanted someone a good bit older than me cause I felt like they'd be better.

I guess I am a hypocrite but at least I'm admitting it!

Lol, old ladies Tiffany and Britney...except they would be spelled differently because that is what's in now. Britnie, Tiffanie and Apple hahaha

I don't think his reaction was because of her name. I think it was because her name tag just said "Megan". Not Dr. Megan or whatever her last name was.....just "Megan". I don't think he saw that as being very professional.

It would be like running into a doctor today named Keeley or Brooklyn or something. It's not that there are no professional adults with those names out there, they're just names that many many children have right now and so they're associated with youth.

The whole point about that was that she wasn't "Dr....." on her name badge, that it just had her first name on it (I think!)

I think the name Megan was on her badge instead of doctor of obstetrics and gynecology Eisenberg because people in labor are in pain, are scared out of their minds and need comfort and reassurance. being able to call someone by their first name makes it more comfortable for everyone involved.
