Writing a script for a tv series for HBO based on this movie.

I've spent the past year writing a script of a series based on the movie with the movie serving as a sort of pilot to the series. It would take up a few months later with Joe, Jane, Lucas, Gina, Mark, "Warren", Eddie, Debra, and Berko as the main characters (AJ and Corey having gone off to school). It would have that early 90's feel to it. What do people think?

I actually like that idea.

It would have to be set in the 90s because today record stores are few and few between because of digital music (sad)

Give it a go and let us know how it goes!

the pilot would have to be basically a remake, sad part is they hit so much so right with the movie remaking it would like remaking ferris bueller with it still set in 1986.

now comes the fun part...casting.

ideas?

I'd watch

"You make a noise, Mr. 44 makes a noise.

You ask a question, Mr. 44 answers it."

That would be nice. And the songs should would rock.

I hope you pursue and pitch this to HBO.

I was going to say "guess what's going to happen?"

Seriously though... anyone who pitches a script with the concept "there's a cult movie I really like, and I'm going to submit an idea for a show based on it" better have an AMAZING pitch, or they're insane. It's really like blindly submitting a script for a new batman movie.

Even if the studio likes your idea, the idea isn't originally yours, so they don't need you. If they like it, they'll steal it.
