Lucas broke the sign?

A thought that occurred to me (after re-watching the movie to celebrate Rex Manning Day!) - Joe sends AJ up to fix the sign just before Lucas bursts through the ceiling after having been up on the roof. You think on top of everything else he was responsible for breaking the sign as well?

I have a copy of the 3rd edition of the script. The movie was originally supposed to cover 2 days. The sign being broken is mentioned the evening before from Joe to AJ as a job for him to do the following morning.
