What did she just say?!

I just saw the DVD commentary and I swear that at exactly half an hour into the movie Steven Weber (who plays Jonathan) asks about that purple hat the Mina character is wearing, saying:

"Do you still wear that hat?"

Then Amy Yasbeck (who plays Mina) says:

"Mhm, as a cervical cap."

Because I didn't know what a "cervical cap" was, at the time, I looked it up and found out that it was actually a kind of birth control. So I was just wondering if my ears play tricks on me every time I hear that commentary, or whether Amy is crazy or something. Why would you use a hat for birth control?!

Comments are more than welcome!

Maybe it is so ugly that it keeps her from having sex, and thus works as birth control?

It was obviously said as a joke.

I took it as this. Miss Yasbeck's chapeau was small brimed and rather petite in compare to the size of her head. If you've ever seen a cervical cap it looks a bit like that, though more like a bowler hat to me anyway. I think she was saying that the hat, which is of that 'small and tiny with a little brim' variety, was, to her mind, akin to a cervical cap in looks. I doubt she meant it literally, but more 'it looks like one cause it's so small.'

Least that's my interpretation.
