Renfield falling down the stairs.

I didn't notice it until I listened to the audio commentary but when he falls down the stairs, he says the vowels. A, E, I, O, U....Y.

reply

oooooh! I've watched this film a hundred times and always wondered why he said Y....hilarious...

reply

Same with me. I didn't know why he said..Y.

reply

Y is considered a vowel at times too. Didn't you learn that in school, assuming you went? Or did you just pass it by? Note: The word "by" is an example of where y is a vowel.

reply

I noticed that the first time I saw the film. Guess I'm just more observant. No offense. Also, that was a clever joke.

reply

Well, the thing that threw me off was that he said "oo" instead of "U"

reply

he said Y because it is an auxillary vowel. Which means it can be classed as both a consonant AND a vowel.

"Oh I'm Sorry, Did I Break Your Concentration?"

reply

Well, he said it in an accent, so it would be funnier as a pun.

reply

Wow..how can you not get THAT joke! He claims it as plain as day while he falls.

I always thought he said, "Why?"

Kelloway: Doyle, get in the car.
Doyle: But I ordered Onion Rings.
Kelloway: Doyle!
