In the DVD commentary Steven Weber (Harker) says he had no idea how much blood was going to gush out... Mel Brooks kept it a secret until they shot the scene. That's what makes his reaction so classic (the way he laughs & drops the hammer & says "she's dead enough!"). One of the greatest moments in comedy
