has become much better with time

this was unfortunately very unappreciated when it came out in 94, because parodies were becoming a bit more juvinile with the zucker abraham films. The brooks films were also becoming that way too with spaceballs/robin hood and i think critics and audiences were negative about that fact with this film, but compared to all the parodies today, it is almost a masterpiece. The clever writing and production values along with the hilarious performances are more noticable. It doesn't rely on utter stupidity that many of the parody films today have come to rely on. One of my favorite mel brooks films!

agree, compared to the last couple of scary movies and all the disaster, date, superhero movie's that are supposed to be comedy this is just without a doubt better.

i mean, how do they keep getting the green light to these things, who sees them these days. is society that retarded now that they will still pay to see a movie that they know won't be funny?. i mean honestly there should be a law against this crap.

i'm sorry if i offended anyone with this rant, i am not calling everyone retarded, i just am getting sick of this crap comming out. but i guess most of u will say don't watch them then.

It came out in 1995, not 94. It also came out around Christmas time, which isn't really appropriate for this sort of film. I think there could've been some more jokes that were references to other films. Here are two:
1. The scene on the Demeter could've had a Forrest Gump reference where they are fishing for shrimp.
2. When Harker uses the stake to kill Mina, he could've done it in a "Pulp Fiction" way. I mean jump up as he slams the mallet down.
