I grew up watching the carol burnette show and because of that didn't appreciate him since the show was full of bad sketches and him hamming it up with tim conway. but in the films he was fantastic. "don't get saucy with me bernaise!" he was just great in all of these mel brooks films. I think he could have been a great serious actor had they let him get out of comedy. he's the only one in this movie that could pull off an english accent and make a believable character. I went from not liking him to now realizing how great he really was. I was thinking just today, how nobody ever want's to watch the carol burnette show now. she was great and had some great characters in that show, but does anybody ever watch it now or is it ever on repeats on any channel now? no, but harvy's movies will be repeated over and over and over again and we will all laugh.
