'turn-the-other-cheek' kinda guy
i'm sure this has been brought up by deeply religious folks much better acquainted with the bible and their lord Jesus, but i love that little joke where Poncelet, on the subject of Christ, said that he believed he and Jesus had a different way of dealing with the world, adding that Jesus was "probably one of those turn-the-other-cheek kinda guys" - not at all aware that the phrase itself - turning the other cheek - the bible tells us was coined by Jesus himself. it's just kind of a cute little touch, and also a good little character moment, as it just further reveals Poncelet as a firmly ignorant fella. (i mean, EVEN I know of that phrase's biblical origin, and i'm decidedly not that into organized religion, and what have you.)
it probably had the more staunch religious patrons rolling in the aisles in '95...they really seem to dig little 'hidden' references like that. just something i've noticed now and then - i'm not at all ripping on christians or whatever at all.
