Had done this I think it would've been a hit, shame he didn't do it. Anyone else think so? Modine did his best but I think Douglas would've made the movie more fun plus he had the power to make changes to the script surely. Even without Douglas the movie is worth watching imo, and the score is a classic by John Debney.

I agree. Douglass would have made it like Romancing the Stone with pirates.

the man is supposed to be a bookish type though, not an action hero. i can't really see michael Douglas in the part. Hugh Grant might have been good.
