Who's Conrad?

At the end, Harry Conick, Jr.'s character writes a letter to a guy named Conrad, and in the credit's there's a character named Conrad. I've watched the movie about 10 times and I just can't find the guy. Can anyone help me out? Where is he?

reply

Conrad is Conrad Chow. He broke into Helen's apartment to deliver a book written by Cullum.

I never really used to think about it before i just passed it off as him meaning commrade, as in writing a letter to a fellow serial killer, but robofreak conrad Chow, sounds like a bad asian pool cleaner, come on if you listen when they talk to Harry Connick Jr on the net live from the prison he blaitantly talk about the fact that Peter Kurtain was the one that broke into her apartment, remember they have the conversation about how he stole that man's name, and Harry Connick says i wanted him to give it to you and that he didnt know he was going to break in, give me some proof of this Conrad Chow or else dont post stupid fake replys to someones serious question

Well, hopefully this is a better reply than stupid fake one i had earlier.

There's this copy of the third draft script of the movie on the net:
http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/copycat.html
that names a man, Conrad Chow, as the guy who broke into the aprtment.
It's been a while since i've seen the movie, and they could have changed it, sure.

But as far as proof goes...that's as black and white as i can get it.

I thought that Peter Kurtain was a 'fake' name, the real name of a serial killer from the past. Perhaps Conrad Chow was the guys real name but he went by or was identified by Peter Kurtain because of the notoriety of that name.

I think Conrad is just a new guy that Harry's character is recruiting as a disciple of his. He is asking him to finish the job that Peter Kurtain filed to do. It is just to show that he will keep getting followers to do his work for him.

Actually, the correct spelling is Peter Kurten. Interesting reading if you like the movie! http://home.cfl.rr.com/hagar/Kurten.htm

I may be shot down in flames over this but I think that Conrad had a much bigger part in an earlier version of the film, and most of his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. If you read the script which is mentioned in the other comment of Robofreak, Conrad was sent to deliver something to Peter Foley by Daryll Lee. However Conrad is arrested and MJ goes to interview him in prison. When returning to the office she is involved in the scene that leads to the death of Reuban.

In the final version she speaks to Reuban on the phone from Helen's apartment, and is coming back from seeing Helen when Reuban is killed and does not visit anyone in prison.

Then in the final version the reason that they expect to meet Peter Foley is based on information given by Darryl Lee but in fact she should have been working on evidence given by Conrad in his interview.

Sorry if this is all confusing but that earlier script shows you how the film was supposed to work and in fact the final version is quite confusing. I always wondered what the whole chinatown scene was about.

Also in the script Andy is not killed but victim turns out to be his friend Hal.

No, everyone... I thought Conrad was the freak at the police station who kept admitting to committing to the murders. Am I wrong? He was a lurker at the police station like Peter Foley, and he probably did deliver the book on Darryl's behalf.

Maybe I'm confused.

I clicked on here to try and find out who this person is. On the credits it lists him as Nick Scoggin. Look it up on the web and try to find a pic to match with someone on the movie.

The crazy man at the police station was not Conrad; His name was Harvey.

Well, if he did have a role in the movie it was cut out. Just like Peter's mother, who was credited also but never had a scene (the only woman around him was the one with the dog and I believe that was his wife). So, I can't tell you where Conrad is in the movie or if he had an appearance at all but the question on *who* Conrad is can be answered. kad is right, he's a desciple, just like Peter was, a fan of Cullum who sends him letters into prison. Since Peter messes up and dies in the process, Cullum asks Conrad to take his place and finish what Peter had begun, in other words kill Helen.

The script might have had Conrad as the 'burglar' or deliverer of the book but the movie itself hands this role to Peter, since Conrad wasn't mentioned until the closing scene by Cullum. Nothing in his letter suggests that Conrad had already carried out any 'services' for him, but instead it seems to suggest a new attempt, Collum wants his revenge and baits Conrad with glory and fame.
