I don't get the whole Ruben/Nikko thing

I guessed at the beginning that Ruben was likely to get killed at some point, but not in a pretty random shooting at the station like that. Pretty poor way to go, and what was the whole Nikko thing about? Why cast Will Patton and have him do so little - was he supposed to be a decoy character that we might think is the killer or something?

Apparently, Nico and MJ used to date, and in his jealousy, he thinks that Reuben and MJ are developing more than a partnership.

badpony gets it. Nico was just jealous cos he though MJ and Ruben were havin a thing together
