Too incorrect to watch

Just simple facts about murders by serial killers are incorrect. When making a movie you'd think you would have researchers double checking the historical information. Such information as saying in the movie Bundy killed 3 women on the night of Chi Omega murders, when really 2 died. It's irritating to watch.

It's a movie a-hole. Since when has Hollywood acurately depicted the facts (especially something as minute as that?)?
Chill out and relax, you'll live longer.

MANY reputable sources say Bundy killed three women after his escape from Pitkin County prison, many also say he killed two and severely injured two more.

In reality, Bundy killed two women and injured two at the sorority and killed a 12 year old girl in a seperate incident. So he DID murder three females after escaping from Pitkin, but only two of the three were at the sorority.

It's very easy to see how the facts could get confused. They probably did a lot of research and found the dual answers, then decided either three was more likely/accurate or three was more dramatic for film purposes.

I think three would work better in the movie so the killer can kill his mother, the doctor, and the detective on the same night in the end (sort of implying the audience that no main character will survive). Maybe that's why the writers deliberately ignored the fact that only two women were killed at the sorority house.

Bundy killed two and left one for dead at Chi Omega. That's what she meant by three at Chi Omega.

I think "Captain Planet" is something that should be mandatory to watch nowadays.

Team Jacob!

reply

Yeah, Bundy attacked three women at Chi Omega. She never said killed.

reply

Well Bundy actually did kill 3 women that night. He killed 2 at the Sorority and then killed another or I think severely injured another woman right down the block in her apartment.

reply

Still what Helen said wasn't incorrect.

reply

No, Bundy attacked FOUR at Chi Omega, two died, then he went on to attack Cheryl Thomas in her duplex while the girls on the other side of the wall listened. She managed to survive. He later kidnapped and killed 12 year old Kimberly Ann Leach. Three actual deaths, only two from Chi Omega, and in none of these did he use his injury ruse.
I'm very familiar with Ted Bundy's case, because growing up in the Pacific Northwest in the 70's, Ted Bendy was the Boogey Man. I also, like Ann Rule, worked with a serial killer.

Which serial killer did you work with? I'm just curious.

To the OP, Helen's (Sigourney's) words in the movie were:

[Quoting 'Murder by Numbers']: "Flushed with your very first success you must try a twosome or a threesome and you'll find your conscience bothers you much less."

A gruesome twosome. Kemper did two in one day. Bundy at Chi Omega did three."

I guess one could assume by "did", it means killed. That's how I took it, but technically, Helen doesn't say killed, just "did". So, the film is still "correct".

In the end, chill out. It's a movie, not a Presidential election. There were other incorrect items in the movie, like who some of the victims were in Helen's computer vs. actuality. Liberties & interpretation. Happens all the time in Hollywood, but by general standards, this was a great movie if you just went with it. If you want to dissect it and make it unpalpable for yourself, be my guest. It's your own disappointment you'll be feeding, not mine or others.

I used to eat a lot of natural foods until I learned that most people die of natural causes.
