Partridge Family?
When Sigourney asks if the Partridge Family is playing on the car stereo, which serial killer is this a reference to? How did she know they'd be playing?

shareThis was in reference to David Berkowitz aka "Son of Sam" aka "The .44 Caliber Killer", who was a serial killer in New York City from 1976-1979.
Presumably, Helen must have known that Son of Sam left a tape of "I Think I Love You" in the tape deck of at least one of his victims, who was shot in a car.
I don't know whether the Partridge family thing is true, or a fictional device specific to this movie.

What's the rumpus?
It is true the tape was playing in one of the victim's cars. John Douglas, the former head of FBI Behavioral Sciences, wrote about it in one of his books. They were never sure if Berkowitz left the tape or if it was the victim's. Berkowitz contradicted himself under questioning when asked about it, if I remember correctly I think he even said the tape was his dog's (the one who also told him to kill) at one time.
shareThe commentary mentions that the actual Son Of Sam track was by Abba, but Abba wouldn't give permission for it to be used in Copycat.
