To stop a panic attack basically you need to stop panicking, sounds simple but to do that you need to focus on something else completely, remembering a list of names and/or dates, be it presidents or something else entirely, is a good way to do that. I actually have social phobia and agoraphobia and any time I feel myself start to panic I sing songs in a different language (sometimes made up fantasy ones, my favorite at the moment is the dragon born song from skyrim lol) in my head, I just do it on autopilot these days, it's stops the rush of anxious thoughts that trigger the actual panic attack.
