Nonsense in the courtroom about crazies only hearing voices in 'stereo'

Helen gets on stand to prove a serial killer's claim of schizophrenic voices (Joan of Arc whispering in his LEFT ear to kill) is bogus because all crazy people hear voices in both ears, apparently. I don't hear voices myself, but I think this is such utter b.s. Why can't someone hallucinate hearing voices in one ear? Why is this statement taken so seriously? It's supposed to be this moment in the beginning where we see how smart Helen is and how she proves the bad guy is playing the system, but it is just silly to me.

“I'm completely unaware of what I'm talking about but rather than perform a quick google search I'm going to make a post pretending I know what I'm talking about with the phenomenal logic and reasoning of 'I dunno you gaiz...it kinda sounds wrong or something like that so I must be right'”....

Had an idea to ask on here to see how I can find the photograph, or painting shown on the movie. It was in the scene when Sigorney Weaver goes into her bedroom, and it appears near the door. It looks like a life size photo of a woman or angel. Any one know the name of the photograph? Thanks so much!
