Line that made absolutely no sense
Near the end of the film Tim Curry translates the hieroglyphics as reading "We are watching you." One might assume it was a message to the diamond mine "employees" that they are always under surveillance, so they shouldn't attempt to steal any diamonds.
However discount Steve Guttenberg says upon viewing the diamond room:
""We are watching you." It's the trainers talking. Teacher is watching you."
What the hell is he talking about? Is he trying to say the trainers are warning the gorillas? The gorillas read hieroglyphics?!! If he means the trainers are warning the employees of the mine, why does he then say "Teacher is watching"? Isn't it the gorillas that are supposedly watching? And even if it is the trainers who are watching, they aren't trainers or teachers to the employees so the line "Teacher is watching" makes absolutely no sense. "Teacher" isn't watching, "Boss" is watching. That would be like referring to a prison guard with a dog as "Teacher", he's not their damn teacher, he's the guy in charge.
