For being 15 years old, Amy still looks

more real than most of the "effects" put out in movies today. I miss the 90's when animatronics ruled. CGI sucks.

Amy looked about as realistic as the orginal black and white king kong.

Which is more real than Peter Jackson's cgi Kong. At least Amy and the original King Kong were there.

Probably the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Thanks for the laugh.

I strongly agree.

No. It looks like a bad actor in a monkey suit.

I don't think CGI sucks, it's getting increasingly better, but I will admit there are many movies that probably shouldn't have used CGI. I think Amy looks okay, not the greatest, but not the worst.

I thought all the ape effects were outstanding. I applaud them even more for having the courage to use actors in "monkey suits" in the mid 90s when people were more and more starting to use cgi. I like cgi done right. "Jurassic Park"'s effects are still better than half of the movies out today that use cgi. But I'm still very impressed by the gorillas in this film.

Anyone remember the monkey suits for King Kong Escapes or King Kong vs. Godzilla ?

That fake ape is pretty good. They shouldn't have had so many close ups on the eyes, especially in the shots out in the sun. It was very clear they were just glass eyeballs. But... i'm saying that watching on my HD plasma. It looked really good on VHS back in the day!

Agreed I thought it held up pretty well. Most of all the animal shots were great. The hippos and other gorillas I thought came off pretty good.

I think the gorillas from the end though were just too laughable. I thought they WAY overdid the music and snarls/roars from them. The one gorilla that does that goofball "GRRRR" POV while Homaka (or whatever) is looking up is so laughable.
