What year is it when this movie ends? is it 1958? do they finish the school year? i can't remember

shareI haven't seen the movie but I've read the book and the book ends at the school year. Benny is thinking about Dublin is like a different city in the summer, which is good because it doesn't remind her so much of Jack. It means that it's her first summer in the city.
