Brief 3-4 word sentences = fake accents
American actors playing "foreign" roles always speak in sentences of 2, 3 or 4 words before taking a break, or pause. It ruins most of the films, like they rehearsed over and over to get the one short phrase perfect, resulting in unbelievable characters. During the pauses, they usually over-act physically/emotionally to try and take the viewer's mind off of the pitiful speech. Want to see a brilliant Irish film - go find "War of the Buttons"!
