question

Could anybody recommend a similar movie. I feel like this movie is a true treasure. It is older, not extremely well known but is almost like a beautiful little film that could. Nothing fancy- just great acting and all and I love the setting. Can anybody think of a film similar to this

I suggest you watch THE DAWNING.. I'm sure you'd enjoy it!!!!!

Besides Circle of Friends, I know of three films that I loved because of the cute romance and love of friends and family story: The Notebook, Where The Heart Is and Dear Frankie.

You should like them if you liked Circle of Friends :)

Hope you enjoy.

In a perhaps strange way, I think "Rebel Without a Cause," which was cited in this movie by Sean as having just come to the local theatre, is a type or analog to "Circle of Friends."

This is a very late reply, but just saw your post. In case you are still looking, check out a film called "Enchanted April"...it will leave you feeling wonderful every time you watch it. Very heartwarming.

Man in the Moon would be another great one.

That building is also a Starbucks?

Yes.

If you want similar stories, erica, I'd point you to books, not movies. Check out some of Maeve Binchy's other novels, like Echoes and The Glass Lake, also set in Ireland in the 1950s-60s. The novel Circle of Friends is far superior to the film; the screenwriter really ruined a lot of great aspects of the novel, especially Eve's backstory.
