Sometimes UK gets all the luck. A remastered edition of Castle Freak is set for May 2012:

Looks like it could be a good DVD, but then again, I am fine with my current DVD. The original 1997 DVD, that is.

My re-mastered edition of Castle Freak turned up this morning.I got it quite cheaply as well, only £7.00 delivered from HMV.PQ is very nice, and it's the unrated version with the gore scenes intact.For anyone interested the DVD is region 0.
