It was okay, but was definitely overhyped at the time it was in theaters.

Yeah this movie was beyond overrated. I thought the acting was annoying and the plot was stupid.

I just saw it again on streaming, for the first time in years. Liked it even more than the first time, and I'm old!

It's a charming film, it's very cute and rather sentimental, but there's also enough darkness and peril to give it depth and balance. The happy ending wouldn't mean nearly as much, if the pig hadn't had to overcome some very serious obstacles to achieve his triumph. Definitely a film that has adult appeal, not to be written off as a kiddie film.
