Where Is It Set?
I know that it's filmed in Australia but is it set there?
shareits not really set anywhere, sort of a fairytale valley, being english and living in a farming county it does feel a lot like england though, i think they were aiming for a fairy tale english style setting caus a lot of the elements are very english farming
sharefrom wikipedia:
"Babe is an Academy Award-winning 1995 Australian film that tells the story of a pig who wants to be a sheep dog. The film is based on the book Babe: The Gallant Pig (originally titled The Sheep Pig) by Dick King-Smith, and later spawned a sequel called Babe: Pig in the City."
"The Sheep-Pig is a novel by Dick King-Smith. It was first published in 1983 and adapted for the screen as the 1995 film Babe. It was retitled Babe The Gallant Pig in the U.S.. The book is set in rural England, most probably Gloucestershire[citation needed] where Dick King-Smith spent twenty years as a farmer."
The movie was made in and around Robertson in the southern highlands of NSW. If you go to a map and find Sydney go south till you see Wollongong and then go west and you should see Robertson / Moss Vale area. It is on the top of the Blue Mountains that is a coastal range that runs along the east coast. I was raised in Wollongong.
shareI always thought it was set in Scotland because of the architecture.
shareIt's filmed in Australia but set in a typical story-book /fairytale village.
"a tulawin"
The book was definitely set in England. The film appears to be set in some kind of bizarre parody of England.
shareI think that they tried to keep it universal with hints of lots of different countries eg English country side American Kids, Australia Christmas
Hell is other People
