Are muslims allowed to watch this

I know they don't like pigs for eating but do they like a film where the hero is a pig?

reply

Yes, they are. But maybe stricter Muslims won't. some Muslims aren't allowed to keep dogs but they still watched 101 Dalmatians

reply

Probably yes, although it is possible that you might have problems importing this movie into Saudi Arabia because if in doubt their answer is always 'no'. Most Muslims are however quite reasonable when it comes to this sort of thing.

I don't know anything about the Muslim faith, but what does their religion have to do with seeing Babe or 101 Dalmations? Why aren't they allowed to keep a dog until they see the latter movie?

LOL that's what I was wondering.

It could probably slide with some of the more liberal ones.

Although my friend wasn't allowed to get a mug with a cute pig on it, but she's getting a dog.?

is this supposed to be a dickholish question or are you being serious?

I am a Muslim. It's not as though we hate pigs or something lol, it's just that we are not allowed to eat them. Would you wonder whether a Jewish person can watch this movie? Because even Jews have almost identical dietary restrictions and aren't allowed to eat pigs :P

so to answer your question yes of course we can watch. and to the other poster I see no reason why there would be problems having this movie in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia is *beep* up yes (like many other places) but there is nothing in the religion which would warrant banning this film. And about the dog thing... it comes from a hadith (a saying of the prophet) that it's not good to keep dogs in the house, so some people follow this. however some don't. it's not that clear cut. For example another hadith talks about how the Prophet was walking with a man through the desert and they came across a dog who was panting and dying of thirst. So the man went and fetched some water in his shoe and gave the dog and the dog got better and the prophet told the man he would see paradise.

Anyway it's not as though the Qur'an says not to keep dogs... many people do. There are many rural Muslim families in places like Iran where they are having sheep dogs and many Muslim families who have dogs as pets (like me, I have 1, my other one died of old age just a few months ago :( )
