Dick King-Smith, who wrote the book that the movie is based on, has died at the age of 88. A failed farmer/teacher, he turned to writing in his 50's, where he found great success.

I'm late by several months, but I just found that out today. RIP. I really appreciated 'The Sheep Pig' how it was the basis for what became the wonderful movie 'Babe.'
