Was the Aflac duck inspired by Ferdinand?

Both the Aflac duck and Ferdinand are quite similar in looks, voice, and personality, wouldn't you say? And the Aflac duck started appearing in commercials around the same time "Babe" came out.

Not really. Ferdinand was an Indian runner duck -- these are small ducks that stand almost vertically. They're good egg producers but not much to eat; the director probably chose a runner because they have the comical down-turned beak and upright posture.

The Aflac Incorporated duck is a Pekin, a big meat bird, much closer to what we traditionally think a duck looks like.

The main similarities are that both are white birds with abrasive personalities. The white feathers make the duck easy to distinguish from other poultry. And seemingly every real-life flock has one loud duck that makes angry demands (though seldom in intelligible english). So I'd say any resemblance is coincidental.
