Why is she so naive about the press and how they would act? She was in political.

I don't necessarily think she was. She was an experienced political operator. It's just that the President ( more his closest advisors really ) couldn't help themselves from running a "Sydney strategy" for the media. Sydney herself warned the President, like his aides, that their relationship might well negatively affect his public standing.🐭

So she would know that they knew her car and that they would follow her everywhere. When he was explaining it to her she acted like she didn't know what he was talking about.
