I agree as well, to think JTT was a year older than him. Renfro was one of those early bloomers, he lost his boyish goodlooks pretty quickly though, too bad.

He`s my favourite actor. But I like his early movies best. I like better childrens movies than thrillers (except for "The Client" - that one I like). I still think this is the movie were he is most good-looking. Those eyes... - oh my god!

I think the craziest part is how quickly he grew. this came out a year after "The client" and he looks a good 4-6 years older in this than he did in the client.

I think the casting could have been better. In the book, Tom, Huckleberry and Becky were all around the same age. But in the movie here it looked like Huck and Becky were in their mid teens while Tom was about 11 or 12.

A production assistant on Tom and Huck also thought Renfro was 16 during filming. She was shocked that he had a girlfriend on set who was in her early 20s. Then when the assistant was reminded that Renfro was actually only 13 during filming she said, "Oh, I guess that's a problem then, isn't it?"
Yeah, a 13 year old boy having sex with an adult woman is definitely a problem. But Renfro's "bad boy" image kept people at bay, and no one in the production said anything.
