Why did the translator try to get Ace in trouble?

I thought Ace was trying to help his tribe out so I couldn't understand why the translator kept lying about what Ace was saying in order to get him killed.

I know, i got that the first time I watched it..He wasn't trying to get Ace killed, he just didn't know the language of the other tribe that well.

It was intentional because he understood what they were saying. So therefore he could speak back them.

reply

Not true. I know several people who could recognize words and meaning in a foreign language, but would have no idea how to put a sentence together and speak that language.

reply

sorry Rumpelstiltskinismyname , but reading/writing/understanding/speaking a language are 4 different things.

reply

Indeed. I can recognize a good bit of French, but that doesn't mean that I can speak it fluently. If someone asked me to structure a sentence or more in French then I'd probably make mistakes like he did.
