That does sound familiar. I noticed that sadly, few African American shows have families wiht four living grandparents. The Cosby Show is the only example I can think of.
shareI had to think about it for a minute, but I remember Jerri's parents show up a couple of times; (or was it only once?) Most Notably Nancy Wilson played Jerri's mom. Her and her mother were always bumping heads, I think because she wanted to be a singer but was never able to live out her dream. They had a touching moment at Jerri's Graduation when they sang together.
As for Robert's side - I am only remembering seeing his dad for that one episode, I don't remember his mom. But they never really mentioned their Grandparents throughout the series.
