Bret Hart... how much of this sketch was real?

You can start watching it at 2:10.

I can't tell if this whole thing is scripted, or if Bret Hart went crazy and started hurting people. It looks like Debra Wilson genuinely flips out (and then flips her wig) because she's being hurt. Anyone know?

I heard it was faked and I'm inclined to agree because it's a taped show. This isn't Saturday Night LIVE. Mad TV is taped, so they could have chosen not to air it if it wasn't real.

The larger issue was why? It clearly wasn't funny? Was it an attempt to be edgy?

I think it was stupid, it was bad comedy, and exhibits the way that Mad TV audiences laugh and hoot and holler way too much. The thing that appeared dumb to me is now only that the show is low brow but that the audience suddenly starts acting as if it's a wrestling match.

Clearly it was all staged - I'm actually very surprised some people think its real. I've seen script pro wrestling shows where the acting was better. I don't think it was funny either, but it's clearly very much scripted.

This is a joke right?

MADtv head writer revealed that the fight was real and Sasso did actually bleed.

reply
