watching a repeat on Comedy Central was so bad it made me want to kill myself. BAD Michael Jackson impression Stuart sketch #1000000 Artie Lange was hillarious first season Gump Fiction was great SNL will always beat it. I know this thread and post will not change any opinions, but I just have to get my opinion out there.

SNL stopped being funny years ago. By a straight ruler method of talent and humour, executives would have axed it years ago if it were ANY other sketch show on Television. What keeps it on is entropy. It's simply been on so long now that it's become an "institution". it's tantamount to heresy to even mention cancelling it.
SNL is the senile old grandpa. He can't remember his funny stories anymore, craps in his adult diapers and has long since gone senile, but no one thinks of putting him in a home because the house just wouldn't be the same without him, even if he is a doddering old idiot and nothing like the man he was.
SNL should be put out of it's misery, but it never will be because it's been around too long. New Yorkers would have a fit.

There are a FEW funny things on SNL. Very few but still...Weekend Update is worth staying up until 12:10 for. And Andy Sanberg's song with Justin Timberlake "Mother Lover" was hilarious. Other than that, yeah, it's probably run it's course. But I thought that when Will Ferrell first joined too. I completely HATED the cheerleader sketch and never in a million years would have guessed that he would become one of my favorite comedic actors.
MAD TV on the other had stopped being funny long ago. There might have been humor with Michael McDonald or Bobby Lee here or there but I felt like I had to slog through so many unfunny sketches to get to the funny ones. The first few seasons were definitely the best!!! I loved the first year's cast but Will Sasso and Aries Spears made me laugh too. I used to love Mary Scheer's Cabana Chat Lady and now when I see Scheer play Freddie's mom on iCarly, it is such a weird juxtaposition!
I couldn't agree more. The original cast were the best. Never was able to watch more recent episodes without cringing and never managed to get any laughs from them.
SNL used to be funny & cool, but now IMO it's just the status quo BORING material & not cutting edge risky @ all anymore. I'd rather watch Michael Richards go on a rant for an hour than to have to watch the disaster SNL has now become...
