Did the revamped set killed the show or something?
I was wondering if the show's revamped set killed it in the process and that is what it lead to its cancellation in 2009. Just wondering.
shareI would say they revamped the set to try to make the show better because it was struggling, it wasn't enough obviously. The original cast members and second generation that started a few years later were replaced by people and ideas that weren't as good. The early show was loaded with great comedy actors, that's the only reason it was successful. It's not easy to make a sketch show that lasts. They were so good they made the show last as long as it did, but ultimately without them there wasn't enough momentum. Madtv was not about doing mediocre comedy well, like SNL. They were trying to hit homeruns, and without the home run hitters they struck out.
