Mary Scheer

I listened to a recent (2014) interview with Mary Scheer on the internet. She discussed her Mad TV days and said that even though the info on the web says she left after season 3 to be a full time Mom, the producers decided not to renew her contract. She would have stayed longer. She said some woman behind the scenes felt that since Mary was a new Mom, her focus would be on that instead of the show and being funny. Mary said that today that would be descrimination, but back then it was the norm.

She talked about her characters and how she came up with them. She did Dixie and Jewel Barones voice and still sounded just like she did on the show. She also talked about doing Barbara Streisand.
